Greenland's Ice Hides a Massive, Ancient Impact Crater

A giant space rock once slammed into what is now Greenland. The rock is believed to be a rare iron asteroid capable of leaving such a massive dent on Earth. Why haven’t we hear about this crash? Well, for millennia, evidence of this massive meteorite crash was hidden under the ice of Hiawatha glacier. Recently, aerial surveys revealed a depression that shows the impact of the crash. The crater is believed to be not older then the ice that covered it—this has brought many scientists to theorize that the crash might have caused what is known as the ‘Cold Snap’.
