Abstract
3D cell models are becoming increasingly popular for studying complex biological effects, tissue functionality, and diseases. While complexity of 3D models remains a hurdle for wider use in research and drug development, barriers are being broken down with innovative technologies. Simultaneously, advances in high-content imaging and image analysis are revealing important information from complex assays, that allow scientists to push the boundaries of their research. Join us as we discuss an integrated workflow that allows automated processes of cell culture and imaging to monitor the development and characterize the complex responses in organoids. We'll feature several assay models including, toxicity assessment using lung or intestinal 3D organoids and monitoring development and functional activity in cerebral organoids.

Learning Objectives
  • Discuss the advantages and complexity of 3D cell models
  • Understand how innovative technology can effectively overcome technical hurdles
  • Determine how to increase the precision, insight, and throughput of 3D cell assays with advanced imaging, deep learning-based analysis, and automation
