Abstract
For laboratories that operate within a quality management system, purchasing the correct freezer is business critical. While some may think that the decision is as simple as opening a catalog and picking the least expensive freezer that is offered, one will find after many attempts to qualify, that it may not have been designed to perform as needed to keep samples safe per the regulations that one is required to follow. Sample safety is considered one of the most important factors when starting the process of purchasing a freezer. If samples are not stored in a properly qualified freezer that fits the specific application needs, and has the proper documentation to back it up, a company will probably fail an audit and worse yet, the samples may be unusable. Depending on which regulations are required, there are some guidelines available to help you understand the qualification recommendations that should be followed. Some resources include the FDA, WHO, ISPE as well as ISBER and many others. In this webinar, the Cold Storage Technical Applications Manager at Thermo Fisher Scientific will present on the importance of choosing the correct Freezer to safely store samples and illustrate the importance of proper documentation.
