TIME:  7:00am PDT, 4:00pm CEST, 10:00pm CST

Abstract

In this talk we will present how we have optimized single-cell technologies to sort single viral particles by advanced flow cytometry and whole genome amplify the genetic content from individual sorted viral particles. This methodology -so far- can be applied to any virtual prokaryotic and eukaryotic DNA virus. We have used this novel single virus genomic approach to unveil the genomics of viruses inhabiting the human body and aquatic environments. This talk will discuss technical issues and present some important results such as the discovery of possibly the most abundant virus in Earth by single-virus genomics.

Learning Objectives:

  • Discuss and explain what is single virus genomics technology.
  • Explain and show the potential of single virus genomics in different disciplines.
  • Discuss and provide some examples in viral ecology and molecular virology.

Webinars will be available for unlimited on-demand viewing after live event.
