Evaluating Nonderivatization & Derivatization Tandem MS Methods for Multianalyte Analysis in Dried Blood Spots

Speaker

Abstract

Date:  Wednesday, February 25, 2015
Time(s):  08:00 PST, 11:00 EST, 16:00 UK, 17:00 CET

Flow injection tandem mass spectrometry (FIA-MS/MS) has been frequently used to analyze amino acids (AA), acylcarnitines (AC), and succinylacetone (SUAC) in dried blood spots (DBS) for inborn errors of metabolism (IEM) research. While butyl esterification method (derivatization) is routine, it is possible to detect AAs, ACs, and SUAC as their native free acids (nonderivatization). In this webinar, we will discuss the research regarding evaluation and comparison of nonderivatization and derivatization sample preparation methods on a triple quadrupole mass spectrometer. The use of meta-calculation software for post-analytical data processing in research will also be discussed.
