Abstract

Primary immunodeficiency disorders continue to have delayed diagnoses and are commonly under diagnosed. Differentiating between the normal infections associated with childhood and a pattern of recurring infections can be difficult.  It is estimated that 1 in 2000 people in the U.S. have a primary immunodeficiency disorder, a heritable disorder.  Laboratory testing plays a key role in diagnosing this family of disorders.

We will use a case-based approach to reviewing select primary immunodeficiency disorders and how laboratory testing contributes to diagnosis, as well as common concerns for the laboratory in appropriate utilization and implementation of testing.

Learning Objectives:

  • Discuss the role of laboratory testing in diagnosing primary immunodeficiency disorders
  • Outline appropriate test utilization in primary immunodeficiency disorder screening
  • Identify limitations in test utilization and implementation for primary immunodeficiency disorders

Webinars will be available for unlimited on-demand viewing after live event.
