Speakers

Event Date & Time
Date: September 10, 2024
Time: 10am PDT, 12pm CDT, 1pm EDT
Abstract
The field of carrier screening has rapidly developed over the past several years, in terms of technology, guidelines for testing, and patient knowledge. This webinar aims to educate the audience on how technology has allowed us to better detect clinically significant variants in couples planning to build a family and what barriers remain. Dr. Behar will first take us through the evolution of carrier screening and current societal recommendations for technological specifications. Pamela Callum will then address the clinical perspective and challenges that remain for carrier screening providers and patients.

Learning Objectives
  • Audience will be able to identify past and current technologies used for expanded carrier screening
  • Audience will be able to accurately differentiate expanded sequencing versus targeted sequencing and benefits/risks of both.
  • Audience should be able to evaluate current technological standards for ECS, decide which governing bodies guidelines to follow, and implement those testing measure in their molecular lab.

Webinars will be available for unlimited on-demand viewing after live event.
