Abstract
Today’s Clinical Microbiology laboratory is under tremendous pressure to perform quality testing efficiently while limiting additional cost to the medical institution. Many laboratories are being asked to streamline sample collection products due to consolidation. In doing so, laboratories must strategically evaluate each sample to determine the best type of collection and transport system.

This webinar will introduce viewers to the advantages of a Liquid Based Microbiology (LBM) system for collection transport and processing of Clinical Microbiology Specimens. Liquid Based Microbiology products transform previously challenging samples such as swabs, feces and sputum into liquid samples. The LBM line has many important advantages in the Microbiology laboratory.

Better Pathogen Recovery
Clinical studies show that LBM products perform as well or better than gold standard collection devices.

Reduce Costs, Simplify and Streamline Specimen Collection
LBM products allow for efficient collection and transport of specimens and can be used for traditional culture and many molecular tests, eliminating the need to use a different container for each collection or test.

Improved Patient Comfort
Allows one to avoid taking multiple samples from a patient.

Easy Automation
Samples are in uniform containers, liquid format are easily processed on automated specimen processing instruments, reducing the need for manual handling.

Learning Objectives:
  • List benefits of liquid based collection and transport systems
  • List types of samples that can be moved to a liquid form
