Lymphocyte subset analysis workflow comparison - Aquios CL Flow Cytometer vs FC500 Flow cytometer and TQ Prep Lysing system

We compared the workflow of the Beckman Coulter automated Aquios CL flow cytometer, using AQUIOS Tetra software, to a single platform method using the Beckman Coulter TQ-Prep lysing system with subsequent analysis on the Beckman Coulter FC500 flow cytometer with Tetra CXP software. 

Clinical patient samples were run on both the Aquios CL and the FC500 flow cytometers in a multi scenario setting to compare turn around time, time to first result and total elapsed time including the amount of hands-on time and procedural steps required to perform key tasks such as instrument start-up, compensation, quality control, specimen processing and instrument shutdown. 

The study results showed a great advantage to using the Aquios CL for automated lymphocyte subset enumeration. Across the board, the Aquios CL flow cytometer has shown increased efficiency with a decreased amount of hands-on time and procedural steps required to analyze specimens.  The ease of use, speed and knowledge required to run the Aquios CL flow cytometer make this instrument a good choice for both busy and remote clinical laboratory locations where experienced flow cytometry technologists are not readily available.
