Next-generation RNA-Seq and Exome-Seq using Ion Proton Sequencer for translational oncology research

Genome sequencing technologies have enabled a rapid expansion into understanding cancer biology, drug development, and treatment resistance. Research in our laboratory has focused on the application of Ion Proton sequencing of breast cancer tumors and other rare tumors. This presentation will detail how we have harnessed Ion Proton Sequencers for RNA-Seq (transcriptome sequencing) and exome sequencing on tumor tissues to reveal possible drug targets and implement rational drug combinations. Further, work on how Ion Proton sequencing is being used for biomarker discovery in retrospective cancer clinical research studies to enable insights into cancer biology and pharmacogenomics will also be presented.
