    Biography
      Dr. Andreas von Bohl is the head of the Bioanalysis automation group at MACHEREY-NAGEL. He studied molecular biology and biosciences at the Westphalian-Wilhelms-University and the Fraunhofer Institute for Molecular Biology and Applied Ecology in Muenster. During his PhD, he focused on understanding the molecular mechanisms of human malaria parasite Plasmodium falciparum at the RWTH, Aachen, Germany. He joined MACHEREY-NAGEL in 2016, concentrating on new developments of high throughput nucleic acid purification systems and the automation of these on various automation platforms.

      Biography
        Dr. Milan Dieris is a product manager of the Bioanalysis department at MACHEREY-NAGEL. He studied molecular biology at the Ruhr-Universität Bochum and obtained a PhD in genetics from the University of Cologne. During his PhD he focused on the genetics and function of G-protein coupled receptors in the vertebrate sensory system. He joined MACHEREY-NAGEL in 2018 as a technical support specialist. Since 2019 he manages the high-throughput product portfolio as well as the cooperation with automation partners.

        Biography
          Dr. Tim Schommartz works as Application Specialist for automated Liquid Handling at the Eppendorf Headquarter in Hamburg, Germany. He studied Molecular Life Science in Germany and Singapore, focusing on the influence of anti-inflammatory antibodies on allergies and autoimmune diseases during his master thesis. Tim Schommartz holds a PhD in Chemistry working in the field of Virology. He joined Eppendorf in 2016 having a broad background in different workflows, ranging from molecular biology, cell- and infection biology to immunology and biochemistry.

        Aged more than one century, nucleic acid purification is anything but ordinary. Nucleic Acid Purification, also termed Nucleic Acid Extraction, is the first step in most genomic workflows. High quality and pure DNA and RNA in sufficient amounts is vital for downstream processes used in many areas of the biological and medical sciences. But besides being a staple method in most molecular biology laboratories the understanding of the principle and knowledge about the details of this crucial technique is often surprisingly low. A good understanding about this background however can help tremendously to optimize your workflow and troubleshoot existing protocols.
         
        In addition, there is a constantly increasing need in for high-throughput assays and nucleic acid analyses in areas like pathogen screening and cancer research up to pharmacogenomics, whether with genomic nucleic acids, viral RNA, mitochondrial DNA or plasmids.
