Complex cell and bead-based assays are simple and fast with the CellSimple™ Cell Analyzer. This instrument combines a 488 nm laser, dual photomultiplier tubes (PMT), Coulter Principle based cell measurements and on-board software to provide easy-to-run applications and data analysis. The instrument relies on disposable cassettes for sample handling, which alleviates the need for flow cell cleaning and fluidics maintenance. Plus, the instrument is small enough to be portable between the lab bench and the hood. When paired with highly validated kits and reagents from Cell Signaling Technology (CST), the CellSimple Cell Analyzer enables powerful plug-and-play assays, such as measuring cell health and apoptosis, or measuring signaling pathway activation.
Wilfredo F. Garcia-Beltran is an MD/PhD student conducting his research in the laboratory of Marcus Altfield, MD, PhD at the Ragon Institute of MGH, MIT, and Harvard. The laboratory focuses on innate immune responses to HIV-1 infection. Mr. Garcia has worked extensively with the CellSimple Cell Analyzer to understand how it can be used to assess the absolute frequency of cell populations of interest, as well as identify cell subsets labeled with fluorophore-conjugated antibodies or transfected/transduced with eGFP-containing gene constructs. Within these workflows, he used the CellSimple Cell Analyzer to quickly asses eGFP expression from a number of immune and non-immune cells, quantify enrichment and cell health of sorted eGFP positive cells, phenotype immune cell populations based on surface marker expression, accurately determine cell counts of specific subpopulations (e.g., CD4+ T cell counts in human samples), and quantify viability of virtually any cell line or primary cell population.Learning Objectives:
