Abstract

Plasma membrane proteins are a difficult subset of proteins to solubilize, purify, quantify, and detect, largely due to the challenge of extracting them out of their native lipid environment, keeping them soluble, and the shortage of good antibodies.  Commonly used detergents may effectively solubilize these proteins but do not necessarily preserve their function or native structure and may interfere in downstream applications.

This webinar will focus on different membrane protein solubilization strategies and what enrichment or purification is necessary depending upon the downstream mode of detection or analysis.

Learning Objectives:

  • Describe factors to consider when expressing and purifying recombinant proteins
  • Describe methods to solubilize membrane proteins
  • Choose options for effectively stabilizing GPCR activity from extraction through purification and clean-up

Webinars will be available for unlimited on-demand viewing after live event.
