The Future of Laboratory Reimbursements

CMS continues to make changes to how all healthcare providers are reimbursed in attempts to control the cost of the services provided to Medicare beneficiaries. This has led to value-based reimbursement, quality measures and "packaging" of service payments. CMS is also charged with recalculating the clinical laboratory fee schedule, which may or may not be important depending on how we are paid for our services. We will look at these trends and discuss their impact on how we take care of our patients.
