Abstract

Two studies on the immunology of COVID-19 are included in this webinar: First, Eugenia Ong, PhD with the Viral Research and Experimental Medicine Centre @ SingHealth Duke-NUS (ViREMiCS) and Duke-NUS Medical School Singapore will discuss temporal expression results from a study of the host response to COVID-19 done using the nCounter® Immunology and Inflammation gene expression panels.  Second, Joe Poh Sheng Yeong, MBBS PhD Mmed (Path) with the Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology (A*STAR) Singapore will discuss a project that aims to understand the immune microenvironment of COVID-19 infected tissues from both survivors and decedents using spatial transcriptomics performed with the GeoMx® Digital Spatial Profiler (DSP).

Learning Objectives:

1. Understand the current knowledge on the dynamics of the immune response to COVID-19

2. Learn what differential expression changes in the host response are associated with a poor COVID-19 prognosis

3. Understand the differences between transcriptional profiles of tissue from COVID-19 survivors versus decedents

4. Learn how direct, multiplexed, and amplification-free expression analysis and spatial transcriptomics can be used to study COVID-19
