WRITTEN BY: Jennifer Ellis

Cancer touches the lives of most people in the world in one way or another. From family members, friends, or colleagues who have been diagnosed, fought and won their battle, or those that have succumbed to the disease, cancer is prevalent in our society. However, as the research and medical communities strive for better treatments and are hopeful for potential cures, cancer survival is increasing. Did you know that cancer survival rates have gone from 50% to 68% in the past 40 years?

One important step to help ourselves is to learn about cancer and how many types can be prevented through lifestyle choices. Staying healthy and active, and eating the right foods to maintain a strong immune system are a good start. But how many types of cancer are there? What are the survival rates among men and women? And are cancers attributable to genetics or the environment? Find the answers to these and other important questions about cancer in the 20 Snapshots of Cancer Today.
